Joanna Newsom is simultaneously creepy and sweetly moving. Her very anti-melodic, unusual voice balances the hyper-femininity and melody of the harp she accompanies herself with. She sounds a bit like Bjork and Azita's five year old.
I had heard a little bit of her music through freinds that were nuts over her, but last weekend I sat stoned in the backseat of a car when someone threw it on. Needless to say, I was completely entranced and shocked and teary-eyed and now its done. I'm smitten.
